Oven Ribs

Ingredients

  • 900 g pork back ribs
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper, optional
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) olive oil
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) apple cider vinegar, or lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) BBQ sauce

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).

2. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. Pat dry with paper towels.

3. Mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne.

4. Rub olive oil over the ribs, then coat evenly with the dry rub mixture.

5. Place the ribs meaty side up on a large sheet of tinfoil. Pour the apple cider vinegar onto the foil beside the ribs, then wrap tightly to seal.

6. Place the foil-wrapped ribs in a baking dish and bake at 190°C (375°F) for 1 hour.

7. Unwrap the foil and brush the ribs generously with BBQ sauce.

8. Increase the oven temperature to 230°C (450°F) and bake uncovered for 10–15 minutes to caramelise the sauce and crisp the edges.

9. Let the ribs rest for 5–10 minutes, then slice and serve.
